One of Oklahoma's most beautiful parks is in the foothills of the Ozark Mountains, just a few miles from the Arkansas border.
One our way home from a 2016 visit to Broken Bow, we decided to visit McGee Creek State Park and the McGee Creek Natural Scenic Area, near Atoka.
We took a tour of the Cherokee Nation, and visited both of the state parks on the shores of Fort Gibson Lake.
After an enjoyable afternoon at Turner Falls Park, the wife and I headed south over the mountains to beautiful Lake Murray.
As part of our quest to complete our family state parks project, we dropped by a couple of smaller state parks in far southeastern Oklahoma.
We were in Eufaula on a church activity on Memorial Day weekend, and we decided to check out the two state parks on the shores of Lake Eufaula.
